Bleeding the cooling system The cooling system must be bled if the coolant reservoir becomes empty, if air can be seen in the cooling system, or if there is a cooling system leak. Install the top cover.
Bleeding the cooling system
The cooling system must be bled if the cool-
ant reservoir becomes empty, if air can be
seen in the cooling system, or if there is a
cooling system leak. Consult a Yamaha deal-
er.

Operating the engine with an improperly
bled cooling system can cause overheat-
ing and severe engine damage.
Replenishing the coolant
1.
Place the snowmobile on a level surface
and apply the parking brake.
2.
Remove the top cover. (See page 63 for
removal procedures.)
3.
Remove the coolant reservoir cap, fill the
reservoir with the recommended coolant,
and then install the cap.
4.
Remove the coolant recovery tank cap,
add the recommended coolant until it
reaches the “COLD LEVEL” mark, and
then install the cap.
5.
Start the engine, allow it to idle for several
minutes, and then turn it off.
6.
Check for any coolant leakage. If coolant
is leaking, check for the cause.
