Periodic maintenance and adjustment Test the brake at a low speed when starting out to make sure that it is working properly. If the brake does not provide proper braking performance, inspect the brake for wear or brake fluid leakage. (See the following section for more details.) Parking brake pad wear limit: 1.2 mm (0.047 in) To adjust the parking brake As the parking brake pads wear, adjustment may be necessary to ensure proper brake performance. 1. Loosen the parking brake pad locknut and the parking brake pad adjusting bolt. 2. Loosen the parking brake cable locknut. 3. Turn the parking brake cable adjusting bolt in or out to adjust the cable length. Checking the brake pads Check the brake pads for wear. Checking the brake pads
Check the brake pads for wear.
If the brake pads reach the wear limit, ask a
Yamaha dealer to replace them.

Check the parking brake pads for wear by

To adjust the parking brake
As the parking brake pads wear, adjustment

Loosen the parking brake pad locknut
and the parking brake pad adjusting bolt.
2.
Loosen the parking brake cable locknut.
3.
Turn the parking brake cable adjusting
bolt in or out to adjust the cable length.
4.
Tighten the parking brake cable locknut.
5.
Turn the parking brake pad adjusting bolt
in or out to adjust the clearance between
the parking brake pads and the brake
disc.
