Periodic maintenance Spark plug gap: 0.7-0.8 mm (0.028-0.031 in) When installing the spark plug, always clean the gasket surface. Wipe off any grime from the threads and tighten the spark plug to the specified torque. Spark plug tightening torque: 12.5 Nm (1.25 m·kgf, 9 ft·lb) ECS00380 1. Throttle stop screw CAUTION: Make sure that the spark plug caps are securely installed. Otherwise the spark plug caps could be damaged due to engine vibration. ESU12900 Standard engine idling speed: 1300-1500 r/min 4. Install the shroud. Remove the shroud and the right side cover. (See page 40 for removal procedures.) Loosen the locknut. Turn the adjusting bolt in or out until the specified throttle cable free play is obtained. Adjusting the engine idling
speed
CAUTION:

Be sure to have a Yamaha dealer make
this adjustment.
Make sure that the throttle lever moves
smoothly.
Make sure that the carburetor is syn-
chronized first.
1.
Remove the shroud. (See page 40 for re-
moval procedures.)
2.
Start the engine and warm it up.
3.
Turn the throttle stop screw in or out to
adjust the engine idling speed.
4.
Install the shroud.

CAUTION:

Be sure to adjust the engine idling speed
first.
1.
Remove the shroud and the right side
cover. (See page 40 for removal proce-
dures.)
2.
Loosen the locknut.
3.
Turn the adjusting bolt in or out until the
specified throttle cable free play is ob-
tained.
Spark plug gap:
