MAINTENANCE Engine Oil Always check and change the engine oil at the intervals outlined in the Periodic Maintenance Chart beginning on page 51. Always use POLARIS SLINGSHOT Premium 5W-30 engine oil or another 5W-30 dexos1®-approved engine oil for the SLINGSHOT vehicle. See page 86 for the part numbers of recommended service products. Engine Oil Level The oil fill cap and dipstick are located under the hood, on the engine. Always use the recommended oil. NOTE: The engine must be at normal operating temperature when checking or changing the oil. Do not check or change the oil when the engine is cold. Oil Fill Cap Oil Dipstick 1. Position the vehicle on a level surface. Place the transmission in neutral. Engage the park brake. 2. Start the engine and allow it to idle for 2-3 minutes. Stop the engine. 3. Wait three (3) minutes before checking the oil level. This allows the oil to settle to the bottom of the crankcase. Do not check the oil level immediately after stopping the engine. 4. Open the hood. See page 31. 5. Remove the dipstick. Wipe it dry with a clean cloth. 6. Reinstall the dipstick. Make sure it's fully seated. 7. Remove the dipstick and view the oil level. Maintain the oil level between the MIN and MAX marks on the dipstick. Add oil if necessary. Do not overfill. Safe Range NOTICE: A rising oil level between checks in cool weather driving can indicate contaminants such as fuel or moisture collecting in the crankcase. If the oil level is over the full mark, change the oil immediately. 52 {

Engine Oil
Always check and change the engine oil at the intervals outlined in the Periodic Maintenance
Chart beginning on page 51. Always use POLARIS SLINGSHOT Premium 5W-30 engine
oil or another 5W-30 dexos1®-approved engine oil for the SLINGSHOT vehicle. See page
86 for the part numbers of recommended service products.
Engine Oil Level
The oil fill cap and dipstick are located under the
hood, on the engine. Always use the recommended
oil.
NOTE:
The engine must be at normal operating
temperature when checking or changing the oil.
Do not check or change the oil when the engine is
cold.
1.
Position the vehicle on a level surface. Place the
transmission in neutral. Engage the park brake.
2.
Start the engine and allow it to idle for 2-3
minutes. Stop the engine.
3.
Wait three (3) minutes before checking the oil
level. This allows the oil to settle to the bottom
of the crankcase.
Do not check the oil level
immediately after stopping the engine.
4.
Open the hood. See page 31.
5.
Remove the dipstick. Wipe it dry with a clean
cloth.
6.
Reinstall the dipstick. Make sure it’s fully
seated.
7.
Remove the dipstick and view the oil level.
