MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION Lights When servicing a halogen lamp, don't touch the lamp with bare fingers. Oil from your skin leaves a residue, causing a hot spot that will shorten the life of the lamp. WARNING Poor lighting while driving can result in severe injury or death. Headlight and taillight lenses become dirty during normal operation. Wash the headlights frequently to maintain lighting quality. Hot components can cause serious burns to skin. Do not service the headlamps until they've cooled sufficiently. Headlight Lamp Replacement 1. Remove the two screws on the lower front corners of the headlight pod. 2. Using a small flat-blade screwdriver, push in on the lock tab through the two small openings at the front of the headlight pod. 3. Lift the pod slightly while depressing the tabs. 4. Remove the screw in the back of the headlight pod. 5. Lift the pod cover and disconnect the speedometer harnesses from the speedometer. Unplug the indicator light harness and remove the pod cover. 6. Unplug the headlamp from the wiring harness. Be sure to pull on the connector, not on the wiring. 7. Remove the boot and locking collar from the back of the lamp housing. 8. Grasp the base of the lamp and lift it out. 9. Reverse the previous steps to replace the lamp and reassemble the pod. Apply dielectric grease to the light bulb socket before installing the new bulb. Make sure the tab on the lamp locates properly in the housing. 94
