Driving Safely 4. Staying uphill of the ATV, turn the handlebars full left. 5. While holding the brake, release the parking brake lock and slowly release the brake, allowing the ATV to roll around to your right until it's pointing across the hill or slightly downward. 6. Lock the parking brake and remount the ATV from the uphill side, maintaining body weight uphill. 7. Restart engine, release the parking brake, and proceed slowly, 8' controlling speed with the rear brake, until the ATV is on more level ground. Uphill 109
