HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARD Use only a genuine Kawasaki replacement chain installed by an authorized Kawasaki dealer. the rear wheels to inspect the drive chain • Rotate for damaged rollers, and loose pins and links. inspect the sprockets for unevenly or exces• Also sively worn and/or damaged teeth. there is any irregularity, have the drive chain • If and/or the sprockets replaced by an authorized Kawasaki dealer. Lubrication the rear of the vehicle on a stable stand • Support with both rear wheels off the ground. Turn the • wheels slowly while oiling the chain. Use a heavy oil, such as SAE90 gear oil, to lubricate the chain. Make sure the oil penetrates the side plates of the chain. j NOTE żSprocket wear is exaggerated for illustration. Rotate the rear wheels to inspect the drive chain
for damaged rollers, and loose pins and links.
•
Also inspect the sprockets for unevenly or exces-
sively worn and/or damaged teeth.

Sprocket wear is exaggerated for illustration. See
Service Manual for wear limits.

If there is any irregularity, have the drive chain
and/or the sprockets replaced by an authorized
Kawasaki dealer.
Lubrication
•
Support the rear of the vehicle on a stable stand
with both rear wheels off the ground.
Turn the
wheels slowly while oiling the chain.
•
Use a heavy oil, such as SAE90 gear oil, to lubri-
cate the chain. Make sure the oil penetrates the
side plates of the chain.
