Charging the battery (fig. 60) Before charging the battery, it is best to remove it from the motorcycle. Remove the left-hand side fairing (page 64), unscrew the bolt (1) and remove the mounting bracket (2). Always disconnect the black negative terminal (-) first, then the red positive terminal (+). Warning Keep the battery out of the reach of children. Charge the battery at 0.9 A for 5 to 10 hours. E Warning The battery produces explosive gases: keep it away from heat sources and flames. Charge the battery in a well-ventilated area. Connect the battery charger leads to the battery terminals: red to the positive terminal (+), black to the negative terminal (-). Important Connect the battery to the charger before switching on: failure to do so can result in sparking at the battery terminals, which could ignite the gases inside the cells. Always connect the red positive terminal (+) first. Replace the battery in its support (3), then connect the terminals. Charging the battery
