English ► When transporting the saw by hand, hold it by the front handle with the guide bar pointing backwards, opposite the direction in which you are walking. Place the muffler away from the body. ► When transporting the saw in a vehicle, cover the guide bar with a chain scabbard. Secure and position the chain saw to prevent turnover, fuel spillage, impact and damage. Your saw comes standard with a chain scabbard that matches the cutting attachment. If you use guide bars of different lengths on the saw, the length of the chain scabbard must be matched to the guide bar to reduce the risk of injury. It should cover the full length of the guide bar. 20 Storing 20.1 Storing the Chain Saw WARNING Store the chain saw indoors in a dry, secure place that cannot be accessed by children or other unauthorized users, @ 5.4. Improper storage can result in unauthorized use and damage to the chain saw, @ 5.4. When storing the saw short-term: ► Wait for the engine to cool down. ► Keep the machine with a full tank of fuel in a dry place, well away from sources of ignition, until you need it again. When storing the saw for three months or longer: ► Drain and clean the fuel tank in a well ventilated area. Dispose of fuel properly in accordance with local environmental requirements. ► Run the engine until it shuts off. The carburetor will be dry. This helps prevent the carburetor diaphragms from sticking together. ► Remove the chain and guide bar. ► Clean and spray the guide bar with a resin solvent, such as STIHL Resin Remover and Lubricant. 20 Storing ► Clean the saw, @ 21.1. ► Clean the air filter, @ 21.3. ► Fill up the chain oil tank, @ 11.2. ► Store the saw indoors in a dry and secure location, out of the reach of children and other unauthorized persons. 21 Cleaning 21.1 Cleaning the Chain Saw WARNING To reduce the risk of personal injury from unintended activation, shut off the engine and engage the chain brake before carrying out any cleaning work, @ 8. Users of this chain saw should carry out only the cleaning described in this manual. To clean the chain saw: ► Shut off the engine, @ 15. ► Engage the chain brake, @ 12.1. ► Clean the chain saw's polymer components with a slightly dampened cloth. Do not use detergents or solvents. They may damage the polymer components. ► Remove the shroud and clean the cylinder fins. ► Remove the sprocket cover and clean the area around the chain sprocket with a slightly dampened cloth or resin solvent, such as STIHL Resin Remover & Lubricant. ► Do not use a pressure washer to clean the chain saw or otherwise spray it with water or other liquids. 21.2 Cleaning the Guide Bar and Saw Chain WARNING To reduce the risk of personal injury from unintended activation, shut off the engine and engage the chain brake before carrying out any cleaning work, @ 8. Storing the Chain Saw

WARNING

Store the chain saw indoors in a dry, secure place that
