English 3 Installing the spark plug Lubricating the Gearbox N Fit the spark plug by hand and 1 screw it in N Tighten spark plug with combination wrench N Press the spark plug boot firmly onto the spark plug Use STIHL gear lubricant for hedge trimmers (special accessory) to lubricate the blade drive gear. 2 0000-GXX-1830-A0 WARNING To reduce the risk of fire and burn injury, use only spark plugs authorized by STIHL. Always press the spark plug boot (1) firmly and securely onto the spark plug terminal (2). Do not use a spark plug with a detachable SAE adapter terminal (3). Arcing may occur that could ignite combustible fumes and cause a fire. This can result in serious injuries or damage to property. N Only use resistor type spark plugs with solid, non-threaded terminals 24 After about 25 hours of operation: N Remove the screw plug (1) from the gear housing on the underside of the unit. N Screw the tube of grease (2) into the filler hole. N Squeeze up to 1/4 oz (5 g) grease into the gearbox. NOTICE Do not completely fill the gearbox with grease. HS 87 R, HS 87 T

WARNING
To reduce the risk of fire and burn injury,
use only spark plugs authorized by
STIHL. Always press the spark plug
boot (1) firmly and securely onto the
spark plug terminal (2).

Installing the spark plug

Fit the spark plug by hand and
screw it in

Tighten spark plug with combination
wrench
N
Press the spark plug boot firmly
onto the spark plug
Use STIHL gear lubricant for hedge
trimmers (special accessory) to lubricate
the blade drive gear.
After about 25 hours of operation:

Remove the screw plug
(1) from the
gear housing on the underside of
the unit.
N
Screw the tube of grease
(2) into the
filler hole.
N
Squeeze up to 1/4 oz (5 g) grease
into the gearbox.
NOTICE
Do not completely fill the gearbox with
grease.
