Periodic maintenance ESU12280 EWS00540 Adjusting the headlight beams Turn the headlight beam adjusting screws in or out to adjust the headlight beams. The headlight beams move as follows depending on the turning direction of the headlight beam adjusting screws. G Direction (a): Down and to the left G Direction (b): Up and to the right G Direction (c): Down and to the right G Direction (d): Up and to the left WARNING Battery electrolyte is poisonous and dangerous. It contains sulfuric acid and can cause severe burns. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing. ANTIDOTE: G EXTERNAL: Flush with water. G INTERNAL: Drink large quantities of water or milk. Follow with milk of magnesia, beaten egg, or vegetable oil. Call physician immediately. G EYES: Flush with water for 15 minutes and get prompt medical attention. Batteries produce explosive gases. Keep sparks, flame, cigarettes, etc. away. Ventilate when charging or using in an enclosed space. Always shield your eyes when working near batteries. KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. ESU12351 1. Headlight beam adjusting screw ESU12290 Replacing a fuse EWS00550 Fittings and fasteners Check the tightness of the fittings and fasteners. Tighten in proper sequence and torque if necessary. ESU12300 WARNING Be sure to use the specified fuse. A wrong fuse could cause electrical system damage or A FIRE HAZARD. ECS00631 Battery This snowmobile is equipped with a sealedtype (MF) battery, which does not require any maintenance. There is no need to check the electrolyte or to add distilled water. CAUTION: Be sure to turn the main switch to the off position and disconnect the negative battery lead to prevent accidental short-circuiting. 1. 2. 3. Remove the right side cover. (See page 45 for removal procedures.) Disconnect the negative battery lead. Replace the blown fuse with one of the proper amperage. To charge the battery Have a Yamaha dealer charge the battery as soon as possible if it seems to have discharged. Keep in mind that the battery tends to discharge more quickly if the snowmobile is equipped with electrical accessories. 69
