PERIODIC MAINTENANCE AND MINOR REPAIR 2. Remove the oil filler bolt and drain bolt to drain the oil from the final gear case. 3. Install the final gear oil drain bolt, and then tighten it to the specified torque. Tightening torque: Final gear oil drain bolt: 23 Nm (2.3 m·kgf, 17 ft·lbf) EAU20070 Coolant The coolant level should be checked before each ride. In addition, the coolant must be changed at the intervals specified in the periodic maintenance and lubrication chart. EAU20240 NOTE: The coolant should be between the minimum and maximum level marks. 4. Add the recommended final gear oil to the brim of the filler hole. Recommended final gear oil: Hypoid gear oil SAE 80 (API GL4) or multi-grade hypoid gear oil SAE 80W-90 Oil quantity: 0.20 L (0.21 us.qt) (0.18 Imp.qt) To check the coolant level 1. Place the vehicle on the centerstand and hold it in an upright position. 2. Remove cowling A. (See page 6-8.) NOTE: G The coolant level must be checked on a cold engine since the level varies with engine temperature. G Make sure that the vehicle is positioned straight up when checking the coolant level. A slight tilt to the side can result in a false reading. 3. Check the coolant level in the coolant reservoir. 1. Maximum level mark 2. Minimum level mark 6 NOTE: GL4 is a quality rating. Hypoid gear oils rated GL5 or GL6 may also be used. 5. Install and tighten the filler bolt. 6. Check the final gear case for oil leakage. If oil is leaking, check for the cause. 4. If the coolant is at or below the minimum level mark, remove the coolant reservoir cap and add coolant to the maximum level mark. 5. Install the coolant reservoir cap and the cowling. Coolant reservoir capacity (up to the maximum level mark): 0.30 L (0.32 us.qt) (0.26 Imp.qt) 6-14
