MAINTENANCE Steering Wheel Inspection Check the steering wheel for specified freeplay and smooth operation at the intervals outlined in the Periodic Maintenance Chart beginning on page 59. 1. Position the vehicle on a level surface. 2. Place the transmission in PARK. 3. Lightly turn the steering wheel left and right. There should be 0.8"-1.0" (20-25 mm) of freeplay. 4. If there is excessive freeplay or strange noises, or the steering feels rough or "catchy," have the steering system inspected by an authorized POLARIS dealer. Power Steering Unit If your model is equipped with power steering, frequently clean the areas around and on the power steering unit to allow proper cooling. Clean these areas thoroughly. Filter Systems Air Filter Always change the air filter at the intervals outlined in the Periodic Maintenance Chart beginning on page 59. Service the air filter more frequently if the vehicle is operated in wet conditions or at high throttle for extended periods. 1. Lift the cargo box to access the air box. 2. Release the air box cover latches and remove the cover. 3. Remove the air filter. 4. Inspect the air box for oil or water deposits. Wipe away any deposits with a clean cloth. 5. Install a new filter if needed. Do not attempt to clean the air filter. Air Box Cover Latches Air Filter Cover PVT Intake Screen The PVT intake screen is located on the driver's side of the vehicle. Inspect the screen before each use of the vehicle. Remove all dirt and debris from the screen and clean it frequently with warm soapy water. Intake Screen 76

MAINTENANCE
Steering Wheel Inspection
Check the steering wheel for specified freeplay and smooth operation at the intervals
outlined in the Periodic Maintenance Chart beginning on page 59.
1.
Position the vehicle on a level surface.
2.
Place the transmission in PARK.
3.
Lightly turn the steering wheel left and right. There should be 0.8”-1.0” (20-25 mm) of
freeplay.
4.
If there is excessive freeplay or strange noises, or the steering feels rough or “catchy,”
have the steering system inspected by an authorized POLARIS dealer.
Power Steering Unit
If your model is equipped with power steering, frequently clean the areas around and on the
power steering unit to allow proper cooling. Clean these areas thoroughly.
Filter Systems
Air Filter
Always change the air filter at the
intervals outlined in the Periodic
Maintenance Chart beginning on page
59. Service the air filter more
frequently if the vehicle is operated in
wet conditions or at high throttle for
extended periods.
1.
Lift the cargo box to access the air
box.
2.
Release the air box cover latches
and remove the cover.
3.
Remove the air filter.
4.
Inspect the air box for oil or water
deposits. Wipe away any deposits
with a clean cloth.
5.
Install a new filter if needed. Do
not attempt to clean the air filter.
PVT Intake Screen
The PVT intake screen is located on the driver’s side of
the vehicle.
Inspect the screen before each use of the vehicle.
Remove all dirt and debris from the screen and clean it
frequently with warm soapy water.
