TROUBLESHOOTING For your personal safety, do not attempt inspection or repairs not fully described in this owner's manual. Contact an authorized dealer for service if you cannot determine the cause of a problem or if the inspection / repair exceeds your mechanical ability or tool resources. Do not perform any inspection or repair with the engine running. Engine Cranks But Will Not Start Possible Cause Low Fuel Fuel pump inoperative Possible Remedy/Action Verify fuel level Turn the key ON. The fuel pump should run momentarily and then stop. If you do not hear the fuel pump run, check the fuel pump / ignition circuit breaker. See page 77. Fully charge the battery. See page 72. Inspect spark plugs. See page 67. Be sure spark plug wires are securely fastened. Battery Discharged Spark Plug(s) Fouled Spark Plug Wire(s) Disconnected or Loose Starter Motor Does Not Turn or Turns Slowly Possible Cause Battery Discharged Battery Cables Loose or Corroded Transmission In Gear Possible Remedy/Action Fully charge the battery. Starter Motor Does Not Turn or Turns Slowly
Engine Starts But Misses or Runs Poorly
NOTE:
Turn engine OFF before inspecting any of these items.

Low Fuel
Verify fuel level
Fuel pump inoperative
Turn the key ON. The fuel pump should run
momentarily and then stop. If you do not hear the
fuel pump run, check the fuel pump / ignition

Spark Plug(s) Fouled
Inspect spark plugs. See page 67.
