Take the battery out.
Clean the battery using a solution of baking soda
and water. Be sure that the lead connections are
clean.
Perform a visual inspection. Inspect for defective
or cracked case and cover, and loose or damaged
terminal posts or cables. Replace battery and/or
cables immediately if any damage is found.
Battery Installation
Check that the rubber dampers on the battery
holder and the floor board are properly in place.
Put the battery in place on the rubber damper.
Reinstall the battery holder.
Paying attention not to pinch the positive cable
with the battery holder, connect the positive cable
to the (+) terminal, and then connect the negative
cable to the (–) terminal.
