E Brake system If there is excessive play at the brake lever or pedal even though the brake pads are still in good condition, contact a Ducati Dealer or Authorized Service Centre to have the system inspected and any air expelled from the circuit. Checking the brake pads for wear (fig. 58) Front brake The brake pads are marked with wear indicators so that they can be checked without removing them from the calipers. If the grooves in the pad friction material are still visible, the pad is still in good condition. Rear brake The thickness of the friction material on each pad must be at least 1 mm. Warning Brake and clutch fluid can damage paintwork and plastic parts, so avoid contact. Hydraulic fluid is corrosive and can cause damage and injuries. Never mix fluids of different qualities. Check that the seals are in good condition. Important Have the brake pads replaced by a Ducati Dealer or Authorized Service Centre. fig. 58 68

Front brake
