Connecting the Printer to Your Computer Your SQ-850 or SQ-2550 has two separate interface connections: a parallel interface and an RS-232C compatible serial interface. If you are not sure which one is required by your computer, check your computer manual for this information. If you have a suitable shielded cable, you should be able to connect to most computers immediately. If you have one of the few computers that requires a different type of interface, you should be able to use one of the optional interfaces described in Chapter 5. The parallel interface is the printer's default setting. If you need to use the built-in serial interface, be sure to change the SelecType setting followed steps in Chapter 3. The parallel interface Connect the parallel interface cable as described below. Before connecting the parallel interface cable, make sure that both the printer and your computer are turned off. 1. Plug the connector of the cable securely into the printer. WARNING: Do not plug more than one interface cable into the printer at one time. This may damage the printer. 1-28 Setting Up the Printer
