Install the left side cover (PZ50RT / PZ50GT / PZ50MT), or install the left side cover and the left upper cover, and then close the shroud (PZ50VT). G Coming in contact with the rotating Vbelt or clutch parts can cause severe injury or death. Never run the engine with the drive guard removed. Make sure that the drive guard is installed securely before operating the snowmobile to protect against severe injury or death from a broken V-belt or other part should it come off the snowmobile while it is in operation. To replace the V-belt EWS00411 WARNING When installing a new V-belt, make sure that it is positioned properly. Otherwise, the V-belt clutch engagement speed will be changed and the snowmobile may move unexpectedly when the engine is started, which could cause an accident. ECS00520 ECS00830 NOTICE Never run the engine with the V-belt removed. Clutch components can be damaged. The V-belt should be checked before each ride. NOTICE To ensure proper clutch performance as the V-belt wears, it is necessary to adjust the gap between the secondary fixed sheave and the secondary sliding sheave by changing the positions of the spacers. Have a Yamaha dealer make this adjustment. 1. 2. Place the snowmobile on a level surface and apply the parking brake. Remove the left side cover (PZ50RT / PZ50GT / PZ50MT), or open the shroud and remove the left upper cover and the left side cover (PZ50VT). (See page 49 for the procedures.) Remove the drive guard. Rotate the secondary sliding sheave clockwise and push it so that it separates from the secondary fixed sheave. To check the V-belt 1. Remove the left side cover (PZ50RT / PZ50GT / PZ50MT), or open the shroud and remove the left upper cover and the left side cover (PZ50VT). (See page 49 for the procedures.) Remove the drive guard.
