Periodic maintenance and adjustment G Do not rev the engine to the point that the clutch engages. Check the T.O.R.S. for proper operation. 1. Start the engine. TIP Refer to the "Starting the engine" section on page 37. 2. Hold the pivot point of the throttle lever away from the throttle switch by putting your thumb (above) and forefinger (below) between the throttle lever pivot and the engine stop switch housing. While holding the pivot point as described above, squeeze the throttle lever gradually. 1. Throttle lever pivot 2. Engine stop switch housing 3. Throttle lever The T.O.R.S. will be activated and the engine speed will be limited to less than the clutch engagement speed. (See page 84 for the clutch engagement speed.) WARNING! If the engine speed does not decrease to less than the clutch engagement speed, stop the engine by turning the main switch to the off position and consult a Yamaha dealer. Operating the snowmobile with a malfunctioning T.O.R.S. could result in loss of control.
