Adjust the free play as follows. 1. Loosen the locknut. 2. Slowly turn the adjusting screw counterclockwise until resistance is felt, and then turn it 1/8 clockwise. TIP Turning the adjusting screw out decreases clutch free play and turning it in increases clutch free play. 3. Tighten the locknut to the specified torque. Tightening torque: Locknut: 20 Nm (2.0 m·kgf, 14 ft·lbf) 8-36

Adjusting the clutch free play
The clutch free play must be adjusted periodically.
Adjust the free play as follows.
1.
Loosen the locknut.
2.
Slowly turn the adjusting screw counterclock-
wise until resistance is felt, and then turn it 1/8
clockwise.
TIP
Turning the adjusting screw out decreases clutch
free play and turning it in increases clutch free
play.
3.
Tighten the locknut to the specified torque.
