Sponge material 2. Air filter element frame EWA10430 6. Apply oil of the recommended type to the entire surface of the sponge material, and then squeeze the excess oil out. NOTE: The air filter element should be wet but not dripping. Recommended oil: Yamaha foam air filter oil or other quality foam air filter oil Make sure that the air filter element is properly seated in the air filter case. The engine should never be operated without the air filter element installed, otherwise the piston(s) and/or cylinder(s) may become excessively worn. WARNING Use only a dedicated parts cleaning solvent. To avoid the risk of fire or explosion, do not use gasoline or solvents with a low flash point. ECA10510 9. Install the air filter case cover by installing the screws. 10. Connect the hoses to the air filter case. 11. Push the air filter case onto the air filter case joint, and then tighten the clamp screw. 12. Install the air filter case bolts. CAUTION: To avoid damaging the foam material, handle it gently and carefully, and do not twist or wring it. 7. Pull the sponge material over the air filter element frame. 8. Insert the element into the air filter case, and then tighten the wing nut. 6-14

Apply oil of the recommended type
to the entire surface of the sponge
material, and then squeeze the ex-
cess oil out.
NOTE:
The air filter element should be wet but
not dripping.
7.
Pull the sponge material over the
air filter element frame.
8.
Insert the element into the air filter
case, and then tighten the wing
nut.
CAUTION:
ECA10480
Make sure that the air filter ele-
ment is properly seated in the
air filter case.
The engine should never be op-
erated without the air filter ele-
ment installed, otherwise the
piston(s) and/or cylinder(s) may
become excessively worn.
9.
Install the air filter case cover by in-
stalling the screws.
10.
Connect the hoses to the air filter
case.
11.
Push the air filter case onto the air
filter case joint, and then tighten
the clamp screw.
12.
Install the air filter case bolts.
