Remove the fuel pipe. Check fuel flow. No fuel. Fuel cock clogged. Restart engine. Clean fuel cock. No fuel. Supply fuel 2. Compression Use the electric starter to see if there is compression. There is compression. Compression normal. No compression. Ask a Yamaha dealer to inspect. 3. Ignition Remove the plug and check the electrodes. Wet Wipe clean with dry cloth. Spark good. Use the electric starter. Ignition system normal. Dry Attach plug cap and ground to chassis. Spark weak. Adjust plug gap or replace plug. 4. Battery Use the electric starter. Engine turns over quickly. Engine turns over slowly. No spark. Battery good. Recharge, check connections. Ask a Yamaha dealer to inspect. 8-40

Check if there is fuel
in the fuel tank.
There is fuel.
Turn the fuel
cock to “OFF”.
Remove the fuel pipe.
Fuel cock
clogged.
Clean fuel
cock.
Some fuel.
Turn the fuel
cock to “RES”.
Restart engine.
No fuel.
Supply fuel
2. Compression
Use the electric starter
to see if there is
compression.
There is compression.
No compression.
3. Ignition
Remove the plug and
check the electrodes.
Wet
Wipe clean with

Dry
Attach plug cap and
ground to chassis.
Use the
electric starter.
Spark good.
Ignition system
normal.
