Pre-Ride Inspections Fuel Level 1. On level ground, straddle the motorcycle and bring it to the fully upright position. 2. Start the engine. The low fuel indicator light will stay on if the fuel tank level is less than one gallon (3.8 l). 3. Add fuel as needed. Fuel Hose, Rail and Connections 1. Inspect the fuel hoses for cracks or damage. 2. Inspect the hose connection at the fuel tank and at the fuel rail for dampness or stains from leaking or dried fuel. Evaporative Emission Control System (California Models) 1. Inspect all evaporative emission control system hoses and connections. Make sure all connections are tight. 2.
