Removing the Spare Tire andTools The equipment you'll need is in the trunk. Pull the carpeting from the floorof the trunk. Turn the center retainer nuton the compact spare tire housing counterclockwise to remove it. Turn the wing nut counterclockwise and remove it. Then lift off the adapter and remove the spare tire. Lift and remove cover. You will find the jacking the instructions label on underside of the tire cover. See the "Compact Spare Tire" later in this section more for information aboutthe compact spare. Remove thejack and wheel wrench from the trunk.Your vehicle's jack and wheel wrench are stored a foam in tray. Remove the band from around jack. the 5-24
