English / USA Motor Cooling Storing the Machine Checking and Replacing the Chain Sprocket For periods of about 3 months or longer: : Remove and clean the saw chain and guide bar, spray with corrosion inhibiting oil. : Thoroughly clean the machine, paying special attenton to the cooling slots. : If you use biological chain and bar lubricant, e.g. STIHL Bioplus, completely fill the chain oil tank. : Store the machine in a dry, high or locked location - out of the reach of children and other unauthorized persons. : Disconnect plug from the power supply. : Remove the chain sprocket cover, chain and guide bar. : Engage the chain brake to lock the chain sprocket. Replace the chain sprocket: a 107BA017 LA 000BA054 KN Cooling air flows to the motor through the slots in the front handle. : Use a dry brush or similar tool to clean the cooling slots at regular intervals (see "Maintenance Chart"). - after using two chains or earlier. - if the wear marks (a) on the sprocket are deeper than about 0.02 in (0.5 mm) since this would reduce the life of the chain. Check with reference gauge (Special Accessory). It is best to use two chains in rotation with one sprocket. Use only original STIHL chain sprockets. 32 MSE 220
