Make the felling notch perpendicular to the line of fall you have determined, close to the ground. ► Be aware of conditions such as wind, limb and foliage structure, tree lean, the slope of the terrain and other factors that could alter the direction of fall. ► Cut down at a 45° angle to a depth of approximately 1/5 to 1/4 of the trunk diameter. ► Make a horizontal cut that meets the bottom of the first cut. ► Remove the resulting 45° piece. The size of the wedge will vary by tree size. The larger the tree, the larger the wedge. This model chain saw is not intended for felling large diameter trees. ► The felling notch determines the direction of the tree's fall.
