17 Transporting 17 Transporting 18 Storing English 17.1 Transporting the Trimmer / Brushcutter WARNING To reduce the risk of injury from loss of control and blade or line contact, never carry or transport your trimmer / brushcutter with the cutting attachment moving, @ 5.7.5. Ensure the cutting attachment has stopped before setting the power tool down, @ 5.7.5. WARNING If a metal cutting attachment is mounted, STIHL recommends attaching an appropriate transport guard (special accessory) to help reduce the risk of cut injuries from inadvertent contact. Remove the transport guard before starting work. When transporting the trimmer / brushcutter: ► When transporting the trimmer / brushcutter by hand, hold the drive tube so that the unit remains parallel to the ground. Keep the cutting attachment pointing backwards, opposite the direction in which you are walking. ► When transporting the trimmer / brushcutter in a vehicle, secure and position it to prevent turnover, impact and damage. 0000099197_001 18.1 Storing the Trimmer / Brushcutter WARNING Store the trimmer / brushcutter indoors in a dry, secure place that is inaccessible to children and other unauthorized users, @ 6.1. Improper storage can result in unauthorized use and damage to the trimmer / brushcutter, @ 6.1. When storing the trimmer / brushcutter: ► Wait for the engine to cool down. ► Keep the machine with a full tank of fuel in a dry place, well away from sources of ignition, until you need it again. ► Store the trimmer / brushcutter indoors in a dry and secure location, out of the reach of children and other unauthorized persons. When storing the trimmer / brushcutter for thirty days or longer: ► Drain and clean the fuel tank in a well ventilated area. Dispose of fuel properly in accordance with local environmental requirements. ► If the chain saw is equipped with a manual fuel pump: Press the manual fuel pump at least 5 times. ► Start the engine and run it at idling speed until it stops. ► Remove, clean and inspect the cutting attachment. Coat metal cutting attachments with corrosion inhibitor. ► Clean the trimmer / brushcutter, @ 19.1. ► Secure and position the trimmer / brushcutter to prevent turnover, impact and damage. ► Store the trimmer / brushcutter indoors in a dry and secure location, out of the reach of children and other unauthorized persons. 0458-853-8601-B 39

Transporting the Trimmer / Brushcutter
