a3: Dynamic AF Area If the subject leaves the selected focus point when dynamic-area AF (I; pg. 64) is selected in continuous-servo AF (focus mode C; pg. 62), the camera will focus based on information from surrounding focus points. Choose the number of focus points from 9, 21, and 51 based on subject movement. Only active focus point is displayed in the viewfinder. Remaining focus points provide information to assist focus operation. Option Description c 9 points (default) If the subject leaves the selected focus point, the camera will focus based on information from the surrounding eight focus points. Choose when there is time to compose the photograph or when photographing subjects that are moving predictably (e.g., runners or race cars on a track). d 21 points If the subject leaves the selected focus point, the camera will focus based on information from the surrounding 20 focus points. Choose when photographing subjects that are moving unpredictably (e.g., players at a football game). If the subject leaves the selected focus point, the e 51 points camera will focus based on information from the surrounding 50 focus points.
