11 Arms 11 ARMS ƽ WARNING After any adjustments, repair or service and before use, make sure all attaching hardware is tightened securely - otherwise injury or damage may occur. 11.1 Removing/Installing and Adjusting T-Arms Removing/Installing T-Arms Install 1. Align the T-arm (A) with the socket (B) in the T-arm bracket (C). 2. Lower the T-arm into the T-arm bracket until the height adjustment screw rests on the top of the T-arm bracket. Remove 1. Raise the T-arm (A) up and out of the T-arm bracket (C). Adjusting T-Arm Height 1. Remove the T-arm. Refer to Removing/Installing T-Arms on page 75. 2. Remove the height adjustment screw (A) and locknut (B). ƽ CAUTION When performing STEP 3, DO NOT overtighten adjustment screw, tighten only to 50 inch pounds of torque. Otherwise, damage to the product will occur. 3. Secure the height adjustment screw and locknut in one of the three height adjustment holes (C). Tighten to 50 inch pounds of torque. 4. To determine and establish your particular safety limits, practice bending, reaching and transferring activities in several combinations in the presence of a qualified healthcare professional before attempting active use of the wheelchair.	12

Virtually all activities which involve movement in the wheelchair have an effect on the center of gravity. Invacare recommends using seat positioning straps for additional safety while involved in activities that shift your weight.	25

4.3 Coping with Everyday Obstacles	25
Coping with the irritation of everyday obstacles can be alleviated somewhat by learning how to manage your wheelchair. Keep in mind your center of gravity to maintain stability and balance.	25
4.4 A Note to Wheelchair Assistants	25
When assistance to the wheelchair user is required, remember to use good body mechanics. Keep your back straight and bend your knees whenever tilting the wheelchair or traversing curbs, or other impediments.	25
Also, be aware of detachable parts such as arms or legrests. These must NEVER be used to move the wheelchair or as lifting supports, as they may be inadvertently released, resulting in possible injury to the user and/or assistant(s).	25

Initial adjustments should be made to suit the personal body structure needs and preferences of the user. Thereafter follow these maintenance procedures:	32

Unfolding the Wheelchair	36
1. Tilt the wheelchair toward you (raising the opposite wheel and caster off the ground/floor).	36
2. Place your hand on the top of the seat rail (A) closest to you where the seat upholstery (B) is attached.	36
3. Point your fingers and thumb to the inside of the wheelchair.	36
4. Press downward on the top of the seat rail until the wheelchair is fully open and the seat rails are fully seated in the H-blocks (C).	36

5. Engage both wheel locks, open the footrest/legrest for clearance and transfer into the wheelchair.	36
