SECTION 8-LIFTING THE PATIENT FIGURE 8.2 Lifting the Patient ƽ WARNING When elevated a few inches off the surface of the bed and before moving the patient, check again to make sure that all hardware is properly connected. Check each S-hook to make sure it is completely attached to the metal support bars of the sling. Check the attachment of the straps, O or D-rings to the swivel bar hooks. If any attachments are NOT properly in place, lower the patient back onto the bed and correct this problem. Adjustments for safety and comfort should be made before moving the patient. Patient's arms should be inside of the chains or straps. Invacare slings and hardware are made specifically for use with Invacare Patient Lifts. For the safety of the patient, DO NOT intermix slings and patient lifts of different manufacturers. 6. When patient is clear of the bed surface, swing their feet off the bed (FIGURE 8.3).
