Verifying the Host Configuration

Page 31 highlights

Chapter 1 Verifying the Host Configuration Remember to: Check that the autoloader is properly connected to the host (see Figure 9 on page 30). Power on the autoloader and then the host (see Figure 9 on page 30). Verify that your backup software package is compatible with your autoloader. Most backup software packages require an additional module to communicate with the autoloader robotics. You can view the software compatibility matrix at http://www.hp.com/go/storage. Install the HP Library & Tape Tools diagnostic/installation check utility available at http://www.hp.com/support/TapeTools onto your host system (if your operating system supports this tool). This utility verifies that the autoloader is connected and communicating with the host. It also verifies that the autoloader is functioning and provides diagnostic information. See Running Autoloader Diagnostics Tests on page 85 for more information on HP Library & Tape Tools. Windows NT and 2000 For Window™ operating systems, perform the following operating system configurations: Install the appropriate host bus adapter(s) Install the corresponding drivers for the interface card(s) Install the backup software To verify the installation, look for the library and drive after powering up the host. Go into Settings -> Control Panel -> SCSI Adapter Run a test backup to ensure that all components are properly configured. Note Consult your software documentation for more information on installing, configuring, and operating your backup software. Chapter 1 Verifying the Host Configuration 31
