Guide to Keeping the Dishwasher in Top Shape After Every Wash Turn off the water supply to the appliance and leave the door slightly open so that moisture and odors are not trapped inside. When Cleaning Never use abrasive solvents when cleaning. Only use a dampened soft cloth with warm water. To remove spots or stains from the interior surface you may use a cloth dampened with water and a little white vinegar Cleaning the Door Seals Food that remains trapped in the seals may cause odors to form. Periodic cleaning with a damp sponge will prevent this from occurring. Clean the Filters Regularly Cleaning the filters regularly will prevent clogs and odors from occurring. Preparation for storage It is recommended that you run a wash cycle with the dishwasher empty. Disconnect the unit from power. Remove any water remaining in the sump area with a terry cloth or absorbent sponge. Turn off the water supply and leave the door of the appliance slightly open. This will help the door seals to last longer and prevent odors from forming inside the dishwasher. If the Dishwasher Must be Moved If the dishwasher must be moved, try to keep it in the upright position. Do not ship the unit on its side or upside down. Do not use Some Items That Are Not Suitable for Dishwasher Use: Cutlery with wooden, horn, china, or mother of pearl handles Plastic items that are not heat resistant Older cutlery with glued parts that are not heat resistant Bonded cutlery items or dishes Pewter or copper items Crystal glass Steel items subject to rusting Wooden platters Items made from synthetic fibers Silver and aluminum parts have a tendency to discolor during washing Glazed patterns may fade if machine washed Some types of glasses can become dull after a large number of washes EdgeStar Dishwasher 18
