MAINTENANCE Gearcases Transfer Case Fluid Change The drain plug is located on the bottom of the transfer case. Access the drain plug through the drain hole in the skid plate. 1. Remove the fill plug. 2. Place a drain pan under the drain plug. 3. Remove the drain plug. Allow the fluid to drain completely. 4. Clean the drain plug. 5. Reinstall the drain plug with a new o-ring. Torque to specification. 6. Remove the level check plug. 7. Add the recommended fluid to the fill plug hole until it begins to flow out of the check plug hole. 8. Reinstall the level check plug. Torque to specification. 9. Reinstall the fill plug. Torque to specification. 10. Check for leaks. Discard used fluid properly. 81

Transfer Case
Fluid Change
The drain plug is located on the bottom of the transfer case. Access the
drain plug through the drain hole in the skid plate.
1.
Remove the fill plug.
2.
Place a drain pan under the drain plug.
3.
Remove the drain plug. Allow the fluid to drain completely.
4.
Clean the drain plug.
5.
Reinstall the drain plug with a new o-ring. Torque to specification.
6.
Remove the level check plug.
7.
Add the recommended fluid to the fill plug hole until it begins to
flow out of the check plug hole.
8.
Reinstall the level check plug. Torque to specification.
9.
Reinstall the fill plug. Torque to specification.
10.
Check for leaks. Discard used fluid properly.
