Emergency Stopping OPERATION The following chart lists methods for stopping the snowmobile in the event of an emergency. See page 71 for more information about the engine stop switch and throttle safety switch. Open the hood. 2. Remove the left side panel. 3. Remove the air box (pull aggressively). 4. Using the belt removal tool, follow the directions on the air box to relieve belt tension. 5. Starting at one of the tower struts, wind the strap counterclockwise around the clutch as shown. WARNING Serious injury can result from wrapping the start strap around your hand while using the emergency starting procedure. DO NOT wrap the start strap around your hand. Keep all bystanders and loose clothing away from the snowmobile when using the emergency starting procedure. 6. Pull the strap abruptly so the strap comes free of the clutch while starting the engine. Repeat until the engine starts. 7. Reinstall the air box and side panel. 8. Close and secure the hood. 73
