Replacing the Starter Rope, and Rewind Spring

213BA018 KN English Replacing the Starter Rope and Rewind Spring Remove the fan housing N Remove the shroud - see "Shroud" 1 1 5902BA028 KN 1 1 N Remove screws (1) N Push hand guard upward N Pull the bottom of the fan housing away from the crankcase and remove downwards Remove the rope rotor For standard versions The rewind spring can jump out - risk of injury! For versions with Easy2Start If appropriate circlip pliers are not available, have the starter rope and/or rewind spring replaced by a servicing dealer. 4 3 2 1 N Carefully remove the circlip (1)using the circlip pliers N Remove the washer (2), carrier (3) and spring housing (4) 1 2 3 3 5902BA017 KN Replacing a torn starter rope For standard versions N Remove remaining rope from the rotor and starter grip N Thread the new starter rope through the starter grip and secure it by making a knot N Pull the knot into the starter grip For versions with Easy2Start N Remove remaining rope from the rotor and starter grip 5902BA018 KN 2 3 1 N Carefully press the spring clip (1) off of the axle with a screwdriver or suitable pliers N Carefully remove the rope rotor with washer (2) and pawl (3) 2710BA004 KN N Carefully press the spring clip (1) off of the axle with a screwdriver or suitable pliers N Carefully remove the rope rotor with washer (2) and pawls (3) The rewind spring can jump out - risk of injury! Remove the fan housing
N
Remove the shroud – see "Shroud"
N
Remove screws (1)
N
Push hand guard upward
N
Pull the bottom of the fan housing
away from the crankcase and
remove downwards
Remove the rope rotor
For standard versions
N
Carefully press the spring clip
(1) off
of the axle with a screwdriver or
suitable pliers
N
Carefully remove the rope rotor with
washer (2) and pawl (3)
For versions with Easy2Start
If appropriate circlip pliers are not
available, have the starter rope and/or
rewind spring replaced by a servicing
dealer.

Carefully remove the circlip
(1)using
the circlip pliers
N
Remove the washer (2), carrier (3)
and spring housing (4)
N
Carefully press the spring clip
(1) off
of the axle with a screwdriver or
suitable pliers
N
Carefully remove the rope rotor with
washer (2) and pawls (3)
Replacing a torn starter rope
For standard versions
N
Remove remaining rope from the
rotor and starter grip
N
Thread the new starter rope through
the starter grip and secure it by
making a knot
N
Pull the knot into the starter grip
For versions with Easy2Start
N
Remove remaining rope from the
rotor and starter grip
N
Thread the new starter rope through
the starter grip and secure it by
making a knot
