Recording pictures (advanced) Portrait mode This mode allows you to make the subject stand out from a background and adjust the exposure and the hue to achieve a healthy complexion on the subject. 1600 19 Sports mode This mode allows you to take pictures of a fast moving subject. (e.g. When taking pictures of outdoor sports.) 1600 19 ∫ Technique for Portrait mode To make this mode more effective: 1 Rotate the zoom lever to Tele as far as possible. 2 Be close to the subject. 3 Select a background which is far from the camera. • This mode is suitable for outdoors in the daytime. • White balance works best when recording outdoors in the daytime. When using indoors, the hue may change. • When you want to change the exposure or the hue, compensate the exposure (P41). ∫ Technique for Sports mode To record actions of the subject as if it were still, the shutter speed becomes faster than usual. This mode is more effective when taking pictures in the daytime on a clear day. • This mode is suitable for outdoors in the daytime, keeping 16.4 feet (5 m) or more away from the subject. • White balance works best when recording outdoors in the daytime. When using indoors, the hue may change. 54
