Problem Flash does not fire. Digital zoom cannot be used. No sound when shutter is released. AF-assist illuminator does not light. Images appear smeared. Colors are unnatural. Randomly spaced bright pixels ("noise") appear in image. Images are too dark (underexposed). Images are too bright (overexposed). Cause/Solution • The flash mode is set to y Flash off. • Choose a style is set to a function that disables the flash. A 31 38 When Choose a style is set to Shoot night scenes, Shoot under water, Shoot backlit scenes, Take soft pictures, or Create a diorama effect, digital zoom cannot be used. 38, 39, 40, 42 • Turn sounds on or off in Change sounds is set 47 to Turn sounds off, or Pick a shutter sound is set to z in the shooting menu. • Shutter sound is not heard when Choose a style is 40 set to Take a series of pictures. • Do not block the speaker. 1 Off is selected for AF assist in the camera settings menu. AF-assist illuminator may not light depending 65, E39 on the current settings, even when Auto is selected. The lens is dirty. Clean the lens. F8 Hue is not adjusted properly. 38, 44 The subject is dark, and the shutter speed is too slow or ISO sensitivity is too high.
