Invacare® AVIVA® Storm RX Seat belts may not be held at a distance from the user's body using parts of the mobility device such as armrests or wheels. The pelvic belt should be positioned in the area between the user's pelvis and thighs so that it is unobstructed and not too loose. The ideal angle of the pelvic belt to the horizontal is between 45° and 75°. The maximum permissible angle is between 30° and 75°. The angle should never be less than 30°! The safety belt installed in the transporting vehicle should be applied as shown in the illustration above. 1) Center line of the body 2) Center of the sternum 8.6 Transporting the Mobility Device Without Occupant CAUTION! Risk of injury -If you are unable to fasten your mobility device securely in a transport vehicle, Invacare recommends that you do not transport it. The mobility device should be properly secured to the vehicle when transporting the device by road, rail, or by air in accordance with transportation company guidelines. Individual transport companies have guidelines which can possibly restrict or forbid certain transport procedures. Please ask the transport company regarding each individual case. Refer to 2.5 Travel Information, page 8 for additional information. l Before transporting your mobility device, make sure the motors are engaged and that the wheelchair power is switched off. Invacare strongly recommends that you disconnect or remove the batteries. l The mobility device must be secured to the frame of the transporting vehicle. 8.7 Use of transportation docking stations There are several third-party manufacturers not affiliated with Invacare that provide transportation docking systems as a means for securing a power wheelchair inside of a motor vehicle. Please refer to the instructions for proper use provided by the docking system manufacturer. CAUTION! Risk of injury Invacare has not tested this power wheelchair for compatibility or use with any transportation docking system.
