Calibrating the press colors Press colors are calibrated via the Full Color Calibration. 1. Perform the Full Color Calibration: a. After replacing the blanket b. When a screen, ink, or substrate is changed c. When installing a new type of substrate 2. How often is the color calibration engaged? a. 3D Color Calibration (if the Color Automation package is installed) - Once every 30,000 impressions. A job will not stop upon reaching 30,000 impressions. After the job finishes, the press automatically performs the 3D calibration, as part of a full color adjustment. b. Media Fingerprint (if the Color Automation package is installed) - With every new substrate defined to the press. The press performs the Media Fingerprint calibration automatically, as part of a full color adjustment. Full color calibration procedure After you replace a substrate, you must perform full color calibration. 1. On the press software menu, select Print Quality. The Print Quality panel opens. 2. Touch Color Calibration. The Color Calibration wizard opens. 3. The Start screen of the wizard displays the method to be used to run the calibration. The Step by step method enables you to customize the calibration parameters. 4. At the Method step, select the Standard or Custom calibration method. ● The Standard calibration method enables you to continue the calibration with no additional options. ● The Custom calibration method enables you to choose between the V-electrode calibration and default parameters. The V-electrode calibration automatically runs during a cold start. Use the V-electrode calibration when you install a new ink or a new BID. After you replace a substrate, you must perform full color calibration. When you install a new type of substrate in the software and on the press, activate the Create Media Fingerprint option from the Substrate Properties screen, Color Control tab. After the press detects that a new type of substrate was installed, it performs another calibration. Media fingerprint calibration (if the Color Automation package is installed) - A substrate characterization process that matches the press colors to the type of substrate used on the press for optimum color matching results. The characterization is done on YMCK colors only. 3D color calibration (if the Color Automation package is installed) - A short version of the Media Fingerprint process, the 3D calibration is performed automatically after the full color calibration is performed three times. Calibrating the press colors
Press colors are calibrated via the Full Color Calibration.
1.
Perform the Full Color Calibration:
a.
After replacing the blanket
b.
When a screen, ink, or substrate is changed
c.
When installing a new type of substrate
2.
How often is the color calibration engaged?
a.
3D Color Calibration (if the Color Automation package is installed) — Once every 30,000
impressions. A job will not stop upon reaching 30,000 impressions. After the job finishes, the
press automatically performs the 3D calibration, as part of a full color adjustment.
b.
Media Fingerprint (if the Color Automation package is installed) — With every new substrate
defined to the press. The press performs the Media Fingerprint calibration automatically, as
part of a full color adjustment.
Full color calibration procedure
After you replace a substrate, you must perform full color calibration.
1.
On the press software menu, select
Print Quality
. The
Print Quality
panel opens.
2.
Touch
Color Calibration
. The
Color Calibration
wizard opens.
3.
The
Start
screen of the wizard displays the method to be used to run the calibration.
The
Step by step
method enables you to customize the calibration parameters.
4.
At the
Method
step, select the
Standard
or
Custom
calibration method.
The
Standard
calibration method enables you to continue the calibration with no additional
options.
The
Custom
calibration method enables you to choose between the V-electrode calibration
and default parameters. The V-electrode calibration automatically runs during a cold start. Use
the V-electrode calibration when you install a new ink or a new BID.
After you replace a substrate, you must perform full color calibration.
When you install a new type of substrate in the software and on the press, activate the
Create Media
Fingerprint
option from the
Substrate Properties
screen,
Color Control
tab.
After the press detects that a new type of substrate was installed, it performs another calibration.
Media fingerprint calibration (if the Color Automation package is installed) — A substrate
characterization process that matches the press colors to the type of substrate used on the press
for optimum color matching results. The characterization is done on YMCK colors only.
3D color calibration (if the Color Automation package is installed) — A short version of the Media
Fingerprint process, the 3D calibration is performed automatically after the full color calibration is
performed three times. After the full color calibration is performed on a new type of substrate, the
