Refer to the HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM for "Window NT 4.0 PCI Hot Plug Applications" in the Diskette Library. Use this procedure to install all PCI accessory boards for the following situations: l The initial installation of PCI Hot-Plug boards. For complete information about installing hot-plug accessory boards, see the section, "PCI Hot Plug Accessory Boards," at the end of this chapter. • All PCI accessory boards without hot-plug compliant drivers installed or removed in slots 1 through 6. NOTE Read the PCI accessory board documentation and follow any special instructions before installing the board. NOTE CAUTION Consider the boot priority before proceeding. For details, refer to the section, "Boot Priority," earlier in this chapter. If installing a SCSI controller board, the controller's boot priority is set by the board's slot number. For non-hot-plug PCI boards: To prevent a system crash, never open the PCI latch and retainer when the NetServer is power on. Always power off the NetServer before opening the PCI latch and retainer. For Hot-Plug PCI boards: Only a PCI Hot-Plug utility lets you power off the hot-plug slot before opening the PCI latch and retainer when the NetServer is powered on. 53
