DVD SETUP Audio Setting You can change some Audio settings. It only affects during the playback of DVD discs. 1 Press the SETUP button in stop mode. 2 Press the Cursor buttons (s or B) to select BASS ENHANCER (Default: OFF) • Set to ON for sound output on the bass-woofer channel when 2-channel audio source is played back. • This function is effective only for the 5.1ch AUDIO OUT jacks. DRC (Dynamic Range Control) HDMI AUDIO (Default: 2 CHANNEL) (Default : ON) • DRC function compresses the range of sound volume. • DRC function is available only on the discs that are recorded in the Dolby Digital format. LPCM SELECT (Default : OFF) • Set to ON when outputting in 48kHz (or 44.1kHz). • This function is available only on digital outputting of a disc recorded in over 96kHz (or 88.2kHz). AUDIO DRC LPCM SELECT DOLBY DIGITAL DTS BASS ENHANCER AUDIO MODE HDMI AUDIO ON OFF BITSTREAM BITSTREAM OFF HDMI 2 CHANNEL AUDIO DRC LPCM SELECT DOLBY DIGITAL DTS BASS ENHANCER AUDIO MODE HDMI AUDIO ON OFF BITSTREAM BITSTREAM OFF HDMI 2 CHANNEL • Select the number of channels for HDMI audio output between 2 CHANNEL and MULTI CHANNEL. • Refer to the table on page 15 for the actual output settings. AUDIO DRC ON LPCM SELECT OFF DOLBY DIGITAL BITSTREAM DTS BITSTREAM BASS ENHANCER OFF AUDIO MODE HDMI HDMI AUDIO 2 CHANNEL • Connect appropriate external equipment for each setting and set AUDIO MODE to HDMI beforehand to perform this setting. 2 CHANNEL: 2 channel signals are output from HDMI jack. Suitable for monitors or projectors compatible with HDMI 2CH. • Sounds of the DVD-Audio which exceed 96kHz (or 88.2kHz) will be output as 96kHz (or 88.2kHz) even if LPCM SELECT is set to OFF. • This function is not effective for the HDMI sound output. When playing disc with copyright protection • The sound will be down sampled at 48kHz (44.1kHz), even if you set to OFF. DOLBY DIGITAL (Default: BITSTREAM) QUICK • Set to BITSTREAM when the player is connected to a Dolby Digital decoder. • This function is effective only for the COAXIAL, OPTICAL and HDMI AUDIO DRC LPCM SELECT DOLBY DIGITAL DTS BASS ENHANCER AUDIO MODE HDMI AUDIO ON OFF BITSTREAM BITSTREAM OFF HDMI 2 CHANNEL MULTI CHANNEL: Multi channel signals are output from HDMI jack. Suitable for monitors or amplifiers compatible with HDMI multi channels. • When MULTI CHANNEL is selected, the Speaker setting menu for HDMI AUDIO will appear (refer to page 27). ANALOG AUDIO (Default : 2 CHANNEL) • Set AUDIO MODE to ANALOG beforehand to perform this setting. • 2 CHANNEL : Output 2ch sound from the 5.1ch AUDIO OUT jacks. • MULTI CHANNEL : Output Multi channel sound from the 5.1ch AUDIO OUT jacks. connections. BITSTREAM: DOLBY DIGITAL signals are output as Bitstream. • For HDMI connection, if the connected equipment is not compatible with the DOLBY Bitstream, the signals are output as PCM regardless of the setting. AUDIO ANALOG AUDIO 2 CHANNEL AUDIO ANALOG AUDIO 2 CHANNEL MULTI CHANNEL PCM: Convert Dolby Digital to PCM. DTS (Default : BITSTREAM) QUICK AUDIO • Set to BITSTREAM when the unit is connected to a DTS decoder. BITSTREAM: DRC LPCM SELECT DOLBY DIGITAL DTS BASS ENHANCER AUDIO MODE HDMI AUDIO ON OFF BITSTREAM BITSTREAM OFF HDMI 2 CHANNEL DTS signals are output as Bitstream. • For HDMI connection, if the connected equipment is not compatible with the DTS Bitstream, the signals are output as PCM regardless of the setting. PCM: Convert DTS to PCM. 5 Press the SETUP button to exit and activate the new settings. Speaker Setting for ANALOG AUDIO When MULTI CHANNEL is selected for ANALOG AUDIO, some speaker settings will be required. • Set AUDIO MODE to ANALOG beforehand to perform this setting. 1 Press the Cursor buttons (K or L) to select MULTI CHANNEL, then press the ENTER button. 2 Press the Cursor buttons (K or L) to select the below items, AUDIO MULTI CHANNEL Speaker Configuration DELAY TIME CHANNEL LEVEL then press the ENTER button. • The custom mode will appear. - 26 - EN
