Quick Set-up Guide [cont] 10 11 locking 12 screw mount safety screw Tighten the threaded end of the counterweight bar into the Dec axis of the equatorial mount. 13 Remove safety screw from the end of the counterweight bar. Slide the counterweights half way up the bar and tighten the locking screw to secure in place. Replace safety screw. 14 Slide the chrome end of the slow motion control cable onto declination axis gear shaft. 15 The other cable attaches to the R.A. axis gear shaft. Place the telescope tube on the equatorial mount so that the tube is facing forward as pictured above. Center dovetail in the mount and tighten fastening screw. For added security tighten the angled lock down screw next to the fastening screw. 16 17 18 battery cover battery Loosen the set screw on the focuser. Remove the plastic cap covering the end of the focuser. Insert the chrome barrel of the 20mm eyepiece into the focuser and tighten the set screw. Unscrew battery cover for the StarPointer finderscope. Insert battery with "+" side facing out. 19 20 21 on/off switch Replace battery cover and tighten. For longer battery life be sure to turn off finderscope when not in use. Remove the lens cap from the front of the telescope before you begin observing. You are now ready to start using you AstroMaster telescope. For detailed usage information please consult your owner's manual. WARNING: Never attempt to view the sun through any telescope without proper filtering!
