Installation Manual Installation Installation Precautions ■ Do Not Use in the Following Environments • Do not install the projector in a humid or dusty location or a position where there is a lot of oily smoke or cigarette smoke. Optical parts such as the lens and mirror may be stained, resulting in poor picture quality. • Do not install close to high-voltage power lines or power sources. The projector may not operate correctly. • Do not use the projector on a soft surface such as a carpet or sponge mat. Heat may accumulate inside the projector, causing a malfunction. • Do not use the projector in a location that is subject to very high temperatures, very low temperatures, or high levels of humidity. Doing so may cause a malfunction. The temperature and humidity ranges for operation and the temperature range for storage are shown below. Operating temperature Operating humidity Storage temperature 5°C to 35°C Up to 85% -10°C to 60°C ■ Do Not Touch the Lens with Bare Hands Do not touch the lens with bare hands. Doing so may adversely affect picture quality. ■ Install at a Sufficient Distance from Walls and Other Obstructions If the air intake or exhaust vent is blocked, heat will accumulate inside the projector, possibly resulting in a shortened projector lifetime or a malfunction. Do not install in a closet, on a bookshelf, or other narrow location with poor ventilation. Install in a well ventilated location. (Install with a minimum of 50 cm (1.6') clearance on the top and sides, and 50 cm (1.6') to the rear.) Wait until condensation evaporates and a normal picture is shown. ■ When Using the Projector at Altitudes Greater than 2,300 m Contact the Canon Customer Support Center if you intend to use this projector at altitudes of 2,300 m or higher. 115
