PERFORMANCE PROBLEMS Whenever sewing difficulties are encountered, review the section of the instruction book that explains about the operation you are performing to make sure you are using the machine correctly. Change your needles and rethread if the problem persists. The following check list may help you correct any problems. If you still have difficulties, conact your nearest authorized service center. Problem 1. Skipped stitches Cause Needle is bent, or tip of needle is broken. Needle is incorrectly installed. Thread is incorrectly threaded. Remedy Replace with a new needle. Install correctly. Thread correctly. Page 8-10 8-10 11-17, 27-28 Presser foot pressure is too light. Turn the presser foot pressure adjustment 43 dial to the right to increase the pressure. 2. Material does not feed. 6. Needle breaks. Thread is incorrectly threaded, or thread is feeding incorrectly. Differential feed adjustment is incorrect. Presser foot pressure is too light. Stitch length is not appropriate for the material. Needle plate is not on correctly. Needle is bent, or tip of needle is broken. Needle set screw is loose, or needle is incorrectly installed. Material is being pulled too tightly. Thread correctly. Refer to "Differential feed". Turn the presser foot pressure adjustment dial to the right to increase the pressure. Set the stitch length correctly. Snap needle plate on correctly. Replace with a new needle. Install correctly. Do not push or pull the material too much while sewing. 11-17 42 43 40 18 8-10 8-10 33 7. Sewing machine does not operate. 8. Nothing appears on the LCD The power cord is unplugged from the power supply, or the power switch is not switched on. Presser foot is raised. Front door is open. Contrast adjustment dial is incorrectly positioned. Machine is unplugged. Plug in the power cord, or turn the switch 33 on. Lower the presser foot. Close door. 33 Turn the LCD contrast adjustment dial 1 upward. Plug in the power cord. - 49 -
