Begin to stretch threads from side to side, as a shown in Fig. a. Make these thread rows paral- lel and as close as pos- sible. Do not let them go too far beyond the bor- der of the damaged area, but only as far as it will be necessary to give them a firm hold. It is advi- sable to make these thread rows of different length, so as to prevent the material from tearing at the limit of the darn.
