Install the headlight unit bolts and windshield stay bolts, and then tighten them to their specified torques. Tightening torques: Headlight unit bolt: 3 Nm (0.3 m·kgf, 2.2 ft·lbf) Windshield stay bolt: 14 Nm (1.4 m·kgf, 10 ft·lbf) 12. Install the top cover and the shroud. ESU12270 3. Install the top cover. ESU12290 Fittings and fasteners Check the tightness of the fittings and fasteners. Tighten in proper sequence and torque if necessary. ESU12303 Battery This model is equipped with a VRLA (Valve Regulated Lead Acid) battery. There is no need to check the electrolyte or to add distilled water. However, the battery lead connections need to be checked and, if necessary, tightened. EWS00540 Adjusting the headlight beams 1. 2. Remove the top cover. (See page 45 for removal procedures.) Use a Phillips screwdriver to turn the headlight beam adjusting screw and adjust the headlight beams. To lower the headlight beams, turn the headlight beam adjusting screw in direction (a). To raise the headlight beams, turn the headlight beam adjusting screw in direction (b). WARNING Battery electrolyte is poisonous and dangerous. It contains sulfuric acid and can cause severe burns. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing. ANTIDOTE: G EXTERNAL: Flush with water. G INTERNAL: Drink large quantities of water or milk. Follow with milk of magnesia, beaten egg, or vegetable oil. Call physician immediately. G EYES: Flush with water for 15 minutes and get prompt medical attention. 72

shield stay bolts, and then tighten them to
their specified torques.

Install the top cover and the shroud.

Adjusting the headlight beams
1.
Remove the top cover. (See page 45 for
removal procedures.)
2.
Use a Phillips screwdriver to turn the
headlight beam adjusting screw and ad-
just the headlight beams. To lower the
headlight beams, turn the headlight
beam adjusting screw in direction (a). To
raise the headlight beams, turn the head-
light beam adjusting screw in direction
(b).
3.
Install the top cover.

Fittings and fasteners
Check the tightness of the fittings and fasten-
ers.
Tighten in proper sequence and torque if nec-
essary.

Battery
This model is equipped with a VRLA (Valve
