INSTRUMENT AND CONTROL FUNCTIONS EAU14801 Spring rate: Minimum (soft): Air pressure = 0 kPa (0 kgf/cm², 0 psi) Standard: Air pressure = 0 kPa (0 kgf/cm², 0 psi) Maximum (hard): Air pressure = 50 kPa (0.5 kgf/cm², 7.1 psi) Adjusting the shock absorber assembly This shock absorber assembly is equipped with an air valve for adjusting the spring rate. ECA10101 NOTICE To avoid damaging the mechanism, do not attempt to turn beyond the maximum or minimum settings. Adjust the spring rate as follows. 1. Place the vehicle on the sidestand. When checking and adjusting the air pressure, there should be no weight on the vehicle. 2. Remove the air valve cap. 4 1. Front fork air valve cap 5. Securely install the air valve caps. 3. Check the air pressure in each fork leg using a low-pressure air gauge. A low-pressure air gauge is available at a Yamaha dealer. 4. To increase the spring rate and thereby harden the suspension, increase the air pressure with an air pump. Check the air pressure in each fork

gauge. A low-pressure air gauge is
available at a Yamaha dealer.

crease the air pressure with an air
pump. To decrease the spring rate
and thereby soften the suspen-
sion, decrease the air pressure by
pushing each valve stem down.

Securely install the air valve caps.

Adjusting the shock absorber
assembly
This shock absorber assembly is
