The battery should be removed and charged instead. G Always keep the battery charged. Storing a discharged battery can cause permanent battery damage. To charge a VRLA (Valve Regulated Lead Acid) battery, a special (constant-voltage) battery charger is required. Using a conventional battery charger will damage the battery. If you do not have access to a constant-voltage battery charger, have a Yamaha dealer charge your battery. WARNING To avoid battery explosion and/or serious damage to the electrical system: G Do not connect the negative lead of the jumper cable to the negative terminal of the battery G Do not touch the positive lead of the jumper cable to the negative lead. G Do not reverse the polarity of the jumper cables when connecting to the batteries. 8-48
