To ensure proper clutch performance, the V-belt position should be adjusted by adding a spacer on each adjusting bolt when the V-belt position reaches 1.5 mm (0.06 in) below the edge of the secondary sheave assembly. Have a Yamaha dealer make this adjustment. 1. V-belt 4. 5. TIP Apply the parking brake before replacing the V-belt. 1. Remove the shroud and the left side cover, and then remove the drive guard. (See page 38 for removal procedures.) Remove the V-belt from the secondary sheave assembly and primary sheave assembly. Temporarily install the new V-belt on the secondary sheave assembly only, and then measure the V-belt position. Do not force the V-belt between the sheaves; the secondary sliding and fixed sheaves must touch each other. 51

As the V-belt wears, adjustment may be
necessary. To ensure proper clutch per-
formance, the V-belt position should be
adjusted by adding a spacer on each ad-
justing bolt when the V-belt position
reaches 1.5 mm (0.06 in) below the edge of
the secondary sheave assembly.
Have a Yamaha dealer make this adjust-
ment.
TIP
