PERIODIC MAINTENANCE AND MINOR REPAIR EAU23290 EAU44572 Checking the wheel bearings The front and rear wheel bearings must be checked at the intervals specified in the periodic maintenance and lubrication chart. If there is play in the wheel hub or if the wheel does not turn smoothly, have a Yamaha dealer check the wheel bearings. Battery This model is equipped with a sealedtype (MF) battery, which does not require any maintenance. There is no need to check the electrolyte or to add distilled water. To access the battery 1. Remove the rider seat. (See page 3-11.) 2. Unhook the battery band, and then remove the battery cover. 2 1 1. Wire harness protective cover 2. ECU (Electronic Control Unit) 6 2 4. Open the wire harness protective cover, pull the wire harness forward, away from the battery, and then remove the cover by sliding it out from under the wire harness in the direction shown. 1 1. Checking the wheel bearings
The front and rear wheel bearings must
be checked at the intervals specified in
the periodic maintenance and lubrica-
tion chart. If there is play in the wheel
hub or if the wheel does not turn
smoothly, have a Yamaha dealer check

cover, pull the wire harness for-
ward, away from the battery, and
then remove the cover by sliding it
out from under the wire harness in
the direction shown.
